Runner & Stone, a Brooklyn bakery, just got a great ‘shout out’ on the Brooklyn Flea’s website. Under the “What’s new?” section the Brooklyn Flea says: “If you haven’t had the pleasure of one of [Runner & Stone's] chocolate croissants yet…stop by and taste the flaky perfection.” Sound delicious, but that’s not what’s the sweetest part of Runner & Stone. If you poke around their facebook page you’ll find a note that reads:

“Runner & Stone will be a seasonal, New American bakery and restaurant in the Gowanus…. opening in late summer/early fall…bringing house made breads and pastries, as well as delicious food and wine to the neighborhood.”

You see Runner & Stone is a totally easter egg. For months now the building at 285 3rd Ave in Gowanus has been under construction and although we totally wanted to believe the rumors that a ‘bakery was coming‘, we just had no evidence. Now proof (words posted on the internets) is finally here and with a recommendation from BK Flea for a ‘pleasurable chocolate croissant’, we are even more excited. Also, we totally love wine & bread! We actually like to take bread and dip it in our wine, but glasses are never big enough.

Hey, Runner & Stone, can you get really large glasses so we can dip our bread into our wine? We’ll try and hide our habit from other patrons and from the rolling eyes of our significant other.

Runner & Stone joins 718 CycleryJuice Haven, Littleneck, Twig Terrarium, Robot Foundry, and Section Record Shop in the new wave of businesses rolling into this little section of 3rd Ave. (Also don’t forget Cotta Bene pizza who recently started selling breakfast from their new side window.) Man G-Town is happening!
